About Carol McAmis, MM, GCFP®, SSS® Teacher, ARTbundance Coach®

Practitioner Carol McAmis has been fascinated with the living body as a musical instrument throughout her career as a singer, pianist, and teacher of singers and voice teachers. Her Feldenkrais-based approach to working with the voice, “The MultiDimensional Singer,” combines traditional voice pedagogy with ATM® and FI® plus an eclectic mix of additional modalities. She holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the University of Kansas, and currently holds the title of Professor Emerita at Ithaca College where she was on the voice faculty for forty years. She is a 1991 graduate of the New Jersey/New York Feldenkrais training. Recently Carol completed her training as a Sounder Sleep System Teacher®. She is also a certified ARTbundance® personal, business, and creativity coach and is exploring ways to bring this arts-based approach to her work with performers and in her Feldenkrais practice. Her focus is on mind/body practices including Feldenkrais, performance anxiety and stress management, and wellness practices. She has created innovative tools for singers, based on Feldenkrais and neuroplasticity. The Singer’s PlayBox™ is a collection of games and “practice equipment” based on the learning theory of ATM® to teach singers how to practice effectively. “SingerSpa” invites exploration of the voice, breathing, and movement in “MovingSound Meditations.” She is currently writing a book and creating online offerings for her Feldenkrais-based approach to teaching and learning how to develop the voice.
